Former NHL player Adam Johnson is dead after his neck was cut by a skate in an on-ice collision during a game in Sheffield, England. The accident has some asking if neck guards should be mandatory.
Jon Johnson TROY – Kimani Vidal became Troy’s all-time leading rusher and Chris Lewis made the 11 NFL scouts in the press box take note with three touchdown catches as Troy won “The Battle for the Belt” for the sixth straight time with a 28-10 victory over rival South Alabama on Thursday night.

The second of Lewis’ scores came with just 19 seconds left before halftime when Gunnar Watson connected with Lewis down the right sideline for a 26-yard touchdown to make it 14-7 in Troy’s favor. Lewis made a great catch right at the goal-line under tight coverage. “If he’s not the conference player of the week, I want to see who gets that vote,” Troy coach Jon Sumrall said of Lewis. “I mean, he just took over. And I think a couple of them he got PI , too, to be honest with you. On the one touchdown he had on their sideline , I mean that was a catch and a PI.”
Troy further cemented its lead atop the Sun Belt Conference West Division standings, improving to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in league play.South Alabama was playing without star quarterback Carter Bradley, who injured his left knee in the final minutes of a 33-20 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette last Saturday. Bradley has thrown for 2,156 yards with 13 touchdowns this season.
