Verizon Communications Inc. is changing up its wireless plans to allow for more customization, the telecommunications giant announced Tuesday.
With the changes, the company will allow consumers of its mix-and-match plans to build plans by choosing a network tier and preferred add-on services. Some 80% of Verizon customers are now on mix-and-match plans, but Verizon is changing the way it handles “perks,” or discounted add-ons of digital services like Apple Inc.’s AAPL Apple Music family plan or Walmart Inc.’s WMT Walmart+ subscription service. The new offering is “not just a predefined bundle,” Boulben said, though consumers overwhelmed by the company’s options can choose from popular packages.“Some customers want just the network, no frills,” he said. “In the current construct, it came with inclusions, and some customers might not want those inclusions.”
