USD's men's basketball team, after a strong showing against Santa Clara even in a loss, heads to Oregon State with renewed confidence. The Toreros, who faced tough opponents Gonzaga and Saint Mary's next, are looking to build on their recent progress.

USD’s men’s basketball team enters Saturday’s game at Oregon State with a jolt of confidence after opening WCC play with a 75-65 home win over Pacific on Monday and an 81-80 home loss to heavily favored Santa Clara on Thursday. Wednesday brings a visit to No. 19 Gonzaga (11-4, 2-0 WCC) followed by a home game against Saint Mary’s (12-3, 2-0 WCC) next Saturday. “We come away with a better idea of who we are and what we can become,” Lavin said. “And that’s where growth happens.”Zack Paulsen scored 20 points as Point Loma Nazarene (11-4, 4-1 PacWest) snapped a two-game skid with a 71-60 home win over Fresno Pacific Thursday night.
