U.S. natural gas futures dropped 7% on Friday to their lowest level in three weeks on forecasts for milder weather and lower heating demand than previously expected.
Front-month gas futures for April delivery fell 17.6 cents, or 7%, to settle at $2.338 per million British thermal units . The contract was down 3.2% this week after dropping 19% last week.
HDDs estimate demand to heat homes and businesses by measuring the number of degrees a day's average temperature is below 65 degrees Fahrenheit . Meanwhile, overall risk sentiment remained weak. Wall Street's main indexes fell on Friday as investors remained wary about a potential banking crisis.
