ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Anchorage saw most school aged children return to classes last week and this week, local college students are settling back into their routines.
UAA doesn’t require students to live on campus during their first year of college. Hill said if they do choose to be in a residence hall, freshman are typically placed in first-year housing in an effort to encourage students to get students excited about meeting new people. Hill said on campus housing’s popularity is growing following the pandemic, evidenced by this year’s housing waitlist with more than 200 names on it. Hill said a waitlist isn’t uncommon for UAA housing and students have been faced with the choice of finding other places to live, or waiting until the last minute before their classes begin.
