Just a week after Richmond Heights Mayor Kim Thomas expressed doubt as to whether a health and wellness center would be opened, as promised, by University Hospitals, she told City Council that UH has told her the center will, indeed, open in the city in 2024.
Despite doubts cast on the project last week, University Hospitals has told Mayor Kim Thomas that it will open a health and wellness center in Richmond Heights in 2024. The center, however, will not be located, as previously thought, at the now-closed UH Richmond Medical Center.
had not occurred in September and that she had not heard further from UH about the center, Thomas concluded that the project might not move forward.A health and wellness center could include such things as healthy cooking classes, sessions on handling stress, a Food for Life Market where healthy foods could be purchased, and other things that impact one’s quality of life.
“I met with UH’s leadership team and they have confirmed that they are still committed to working with Richmond Heights,” Thomas told council. Thomas said that the health and wellness center is now being considered for a building that UH does not now own on the north side of Chardon Road.
