La nueva integrante de la Comisión Costera de California se incorpora con un enfoque de justicia ambientalHace tres años, un consultor de la industria restaurantera de Colorado cenó en Malva y le preguntó al chef, que ahora tiene 37 años, si le gustaría crear un menú para un futuro proyecto de restaurante en San Diego.
Cuando la consultora de Colorado, Two Roads Hospitality, fue adquirida por Hyatt Hotels unos meses más tarde, el proyecto de restaurante de Alcocer se sumó al proyecto. Valle se convirtió en el nuevo restaurante de autor del Mission Pacific Resort, un hotel boutique de lujo de 161 habitaciones que la división JdV by Hyatt inauguró al pie del muelle de Oceanside el 25 de mayo.
Hay otra razón por la que Alcocer se mudó con su mujer, su hija de 9 años y su hijo de 5 a Carlsbad a principios de este año. Su padre, un mecánico de automóviles que compite en carreras, no era partidario del plan de Alcocer de convertirse en chef hasta que su hijo cocinó para él. Entonces se sintió orgulloso.
