A three-year starter at Incarnate Word, Elliott Davison brings another experienced option to the UTSA safety room, acclimating to his new team through spring.
UTSA S Elliott Davison goes thru drills on Tuesday, March 20, 2023 at the UTSA RACE Facility.When safety Elliott Davison arrived at Incarnate Word in the 2020 recruiting class, he needed to grasp not just new plays and terminology, but also the core principles behind basic concepts like Cover 2 and Cover 3.
Staring down the prospect of more turnover after Kinne and Patke left for jobs at Texas State following the season, Davison decided he was “just tired of dealing with” the coaching changes, and he entered the transfer portal.Since signing with UTSA in January and bringing another experienced piece to a veteran Roadrunners’ safety group, Davison has been using spring practice to get up to speed with the defense — a process he’s grown accustomed to in recent years.
During his time at Tyler Legacy, Davison played under Kurt Traylor — UTSA’s offensive line coach and head coach Jeff Traylor’s brother. “He’s a high-character, smart playmaker. He’s had no problem,” Traylor said. “He knew exactly what he was getting into. There was no adjustment for Elliott. He played for my brother, so he knows how we roll.”
“He’s definitely a football guy. He’s been on his stuff,” Wisdom said. “He's going to be a great player, a great addition to the room and the team.”
