Scott Westerfeld's iconic sci-fi dystopian novel is finally getting the screen treatment with Netflix's Uglies. The movie takes place in a dystopian world where everyone is forced to get mandatory cosmetic surgery at the age of sixteen, with the explanation being that everyone will look beautiful, taking discrimination out of the picture.

Alongside Powers and Stokes, the ensemble Uglies cast includes We Were The Lucky Ones' Joey King, I Know What You Did Last Summer's Brianne Tju and Inventing Anna's Laverne Cox. Deftly exploring themes of self-appreciation with action-packed storytelling, the movie is an entertaining translation of Westerfeld's novels to the screen and leaves the door open for the rest of the franchise to be adapted.

Keith Powers: I would say you're enough, you know what I'm saying? I would say to continue to be unapologetic, have that tunnel vision. Don't compare yourself to other people. I think that's something even we still do. I think that's something you'll always do, but you just have to be aware of it and then center yourself again. So that's what I would tell them.

Keith Powers: She's fun. She's a really talented actress, one, of course, but just as a lead and being number one on the call sheet, she creates a safe space for us and is grounded and authentic. And she's hilarious. Chase Stokes​​​​​​​: ​​​​​​​I think, with Peris, he's just a character that goes through so many different moments, and to be able to do that as an artist seemed like a fun challenge to take on. So I was very lucky and very fortunate that they saw that I could do it, and hopefully, I brought the fans of the book... hopefully I did justice to their character.
