UFC star Dustin 'The Diamond' Poirier announced his partnership with Bud Light Wednesday as the brand continues to rebuild its image with conservatives.
“Hey guys, after a big win at UFC 299, there’s only one way to celebrate,” Poirier said in a video posted onThe UFC’s former interim lightweight world champion’s announcement comes less than a month after his massive knockout win over French MMA talent Benoit Saint-Denis and demands to fight current UFC lightweight world champion Islam Makhachev. In the video, Poirier dons a Bud Light hat on the back of a Bud Light truck and is surrounded by cases of the beverage.
“The Diamond 🤝 @budlight Excited to have the official beer of the UFC in my corner and show the world what we’re doing next. #BudLightPartner,” Poirier captioned the post. Bud Light has a long history of sponsoring UFC, and the brand inked a new sponsorship deal with UFC in late 2023. UFC President Dana White defended the partnership in the face of criticism stemming from a controversial partnership between Bud Light and transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.“Going to this deal, you know, I know all the controversy and everything else, but for myself, going to a long-term deal with another sponsor, I want to be with somebody that I’m actually aligned with,” White
“I know people were upset with what they did, but I’m looking at all the good things they do,” he added. “You know, they employ 65,000 Americans. They have thousands of vets that work for them. They spent $700 million a year with U.S. farmers using their crops to make their products — and many, many, other great things that Anheuser-Busch had done in this country.”
