Uchiko, the third piece of the Houston expansion of James Beard Award winner Tyson Cole’s Uchi-born portfolio, is finally ready to open in the Galleria neighborhood restaurant.
announced Wednesday that Uchiko, the sister brand of the original Uchi in Austin, would complete its long-awaited moved into Zadok’s Post Oak Place, 1801 Post Oak, with a May 23 opening. Uchiko will join Uchi Houston, opened in 2012, and Loro, the Japanese smokehouse that opened in February, as Hai Hospitality brands making home in Houston.
“We’ve been experimenting a lot with charring and juicing vegetables, and the use of smoke to strike a balance between bold and more delicate flavors,” King said. Hai Hospitality operates Uchi restaurants in Dallas, Denver, Miami and Houston; Uchiko in Austin; Uchiba in Dallas; and Loro in Austin, Dallas and Houston.
