The party lines of the 1860s and 1870s are not the party lines of today.
Scott Perry has sunk to a new low: “The KKK is the military branch of the Democratic party” Really? What is your reliable source for saying such a thing? Could it be you are trying to distract the voters since it has been reported that you are using GOP donations of nearly $300,000 to cover your legal expenses related to the January 6 insurrection?
Seven years ago, as reported in the Washington Post, Ted Cruz made the same statement. You should do your research before you speak. The KKK was formed in the 1860′s as a grassroots movement by Democrats. However, “The party lines of the 1860s and 1870s are not the party lines of today,” rendering your generalization false and damaging. Party lines have morphed over time and yesterday’s Democratic party is today’s Republican party.
And to be fair, this doesn’t make the Republican party the military wing of the KKK. You will find both Democrats and Republicans on past membership rolls. When you run for office, you may not win; that is the chance you take. These “I’ll say anything” to “win at all costs” tactics used to instill fear are unacceptable and do not serve to inform the voters as to where you stand on the issues. Stand on your platform. Let the people decide for whom to vote; this is what is meant by “government by the people.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
