Tyre Nichols bodycam: Memphis authorities release video in deadly traffic stop

Tyre Nichols can be seen in the aftermath of the struggle, his face swollen and bloody as he sits on the ground in handcuffs, leaning with his back against a car. Another officer's camera shows him running up as the struggle continues, with two men on top of Nichols, demanding he give them his hands repeatedly.
"Watch out, I'ma baton the f--- out you," he says as he returns to the scuffle, with officers still holding Nichols. This photo provided by the Nichols family shows Tyre Nichols, who had a passion for photography and was described by friends as joyful and lovable. Nichols was just minutes from his home in Memphis, Tenn., on Jan. 7, 2023, when he was pulled over by police and fatally beaten. Five Memphis police officers have since been charged with second-degree murder and other offenses.He claims that he tried the sirens and repeatedly ordered Nichols to stop to no avail.
Betsy Brantner Smith, a retired police sergeant and trainer and the spokesperson for the National Police Association, said the video showed clear violations of proper training. Police caught up with him again at Castlegate Lane and Bear Creek Cove, less than a half-mile away, and allegedly beat him for three minutes straight, sending him to the hospital with critical injuries.involved in the incident: Demetrius Haley, Tadarrius Bean, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills and Justin Smith.
