Two men were shot, one during a drive-by, in different areas of East Oakland on Thursday night and early Friday.
OAKLAND — Two men were shot — one by an assailant in a vehicle — within a four-hour period Thursday night and early Friday in different areas of East Oakland, authorities said.
Both men were reported to be in stable condition. Police said the two shootings were not believed to be related. About 2 a.m. Friday a 31-year-old Oakland man was shot in the leg in the 5000 block of Fairfax Avenue. He was able to drive himself to a hospital. It was not immediately clear if the man was in his vehicle when he was shot or if he was standing outside.The drive-by shooting, which left a 32-year-old Hayward man wounded in the lower back area, happened about 9:50 p.m. in the area of 71st Avenue and Hamilton Street.
The man told police he was outside when someone in a passing car began shooting at him. He got his own transportation to a hospital.
