Multiple police officers have been called to an area near a Millcreek TRAX station after reports of shots fired. Two people have been shot after an altercation at the platform of the Meadowbrook TRAX station in Salt Lake County .
Carl Arky, a spokesperson for UTA, said the altercation involved three men. It moved from the platform onto the tracks, and that’s when two of the men were shot—one with life threatening injuries.The incident unfolded at the Meadowbrook Station, located at 133 West 3900 South, prompting a temporary suspension of service as police conducted their investigation.Pulley relies on the service as his primary means of transportation.
"I ride the green line a lot; sometimes I'll ride the red line," he said. He arrived at the Meadowbrook Station shortly after the incident, which police say began with a fight involving three men.As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities are trying to determine the relationship between the three men, what sparked the fight, and whether they were TRAX riders.
"Generally, there are cameras that are in the system, and they'll take a look at the video. That will be part of the investigation," Arky said."Obviously, we operate in a public space, and things happen in public spaces. So unfortunately, it just happened here at one of our platforms," he said. UTA confirmed that aside from the two victims, no other individuals were injured or involved in the incident.Officials with the Utah Transit Authority initiated a bus bridge between the Millcreek and Murray North stations due to the police activity in the area.
