A man has been detained on suspicion of first-degree murder, after a Gunnison County deputy found him near a vehicle that contained two bodies early Monday.
The suspect’s name has not been released and the names of the deceased are pending notification of next of kin.
Gunnison County Sheriff Adam Murdie said there is no known risk to the public at this time. Preliminary information did not indicate a possible motive. At about 4:15 a.m., a deputy on patrol near Sapinero spotted a vehicle about 50 yards off U.S. 50 near mile marker 135, in some sagebrush. The deputy also saw a man coming up the hill from the vicinity of the vehicle, Murdie said.
