Two people have been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly throwing two miniature pinschers off the Dog River Bridge in Mobile, Alabama. The incident was captured on social media and led to a swift investigation by local authorities.

Tavoris Gallery, 18, and Mary Rivers, 71, are both charged with two counts of animal cruelty after allegedly throwing two miniature pinschers off Dog River Bridge on December 28. During a perp walk on January 1, when FOX10 News reporter Natalie Williamson asked Gallery and Rivers if they had anything to say, Gallery responded, “She wanted to kill the dogs.”\A 911 call came in around 3:30 p.m.

after DJ Perryman said he heard a loud splash while he was at the River Shack, followed by gasps of people. “We first thought it was a person jumping and then we looked out and saw the two heads swimming and realized it wasn’t a person, but an animal,” Perryman said. Lieutenant Tina Zanca with MPD said she along with Corporal Paul Lee with MPD and Lieutenant Bailey McDonough with Daphne Search and Rescue were able to get to the dogs quickly, bringing them to shore, wrapping them in towels and giving them lots of love and care. Investigators said they were questioning people along Club House and Alba Club Roads on January 1 when a patrol officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of the one they were looking for. Robert Bryant, director of Mobile Animal Services, said this shows just how hard people work to hold others accountable. “This is amongst the top of the things you see when you see such intent to cause harm,” Bryant said. “It’s pretty bad.” Bryant said the dogs were brought to the shelter on January 1 to get an update on their vaccines and are still healthy
