Malik and Timmy Tillman are part of a 27-man USMNT camp that opened last week ahead of friendlies against Colombia on Saturday and Brazil on Wednesday.
Malik Tillman was first to find out about the big family news. Both he and his big brother, Timmy, had been invited to U.S. men’s national soccer team training camp ahead of a fabled summer competition, Copa América.roster pool for a few years, and Timmy, 25, received his first call-up this winter. Now, for the first time, they were on the same list.
They are not the only U.S. soccer siblings. Brenden Aaronson, 23, and Paxten Aaronson, 20, were in camp in Austin in November; Brenden played, but Paxten did not. “We feel more American when we are with the guys here, but I am very happy to have both cultures, both nationalities,” Timmy said. “I feel like we have influences from both sides. It’s what makes the U.S. special. We get cultures together and have influences from all over the world.”
Months after persuading Malik to commit to the U.S. program, though, Berhalter did not think he was ready for the 2022 World Cup.
