The death of the conservative media mogul, brilliantly portrayed by Brian Cox, took place during what was supposed to be his eldest son, Connor's wedding to his artist-turned-escort-turned-fiance, Willa .
The remainder of the episode was a masterclass in slow-burn television that immediately had Twitter melting down over each scene that followed.
