Trump says Democrats are wasting their time trying to impeach him
President Donald Trump said Friday that he doesn’t plan to watch former special counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony, a long-awaited affair for House Democrats who have pushed Mueller to publicly answer questions about his Russia investigation.
“At some point they have to stop playing games,” Trump told reporters in front of the White House. “They’re just playing games. You know, I won’t be watching Mueller.”Mueller is set to testify next Wednesday for three hours in front of the Judiciary Committee and for two hours in front of the Intelligence Committee, focusing on his 448-page report on Russian interference in the 2016 election. The hearing will take place one day before the House is due to leave for a monthlong recess.
Trump said Friday that Democrats were wasting their time trying to impeach him, as evidenced by the House vote to table an impeachment resolution from Rep. Al Green . The resolution was forced to the floor Wednesday, but it split Democrats: Ninety-five voted to keep the resolution alive, and 137 voted to kill it.
“It’s a disgrace. No other president should have to go through it,” Trump said. “As far as I’m concerned, they already took their impeachment vote, and the impeachment vote was so lopsided, it was a massive victory.”
