The U.S. continued to stoke global trade tensions after telling the EU it is considering additional $4 billion in tariffs on whisky, coffee, olives and pasta
The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative announced potential tariffs on a further 89 types of imported goods after the US won a World Trade Organization ruling in 2018 that subsidies granted to Airbus were illegal.
The updated list includes: Irish and Scotch whiskies, waffles, olives, pasta, coffee, pork sausages, and cheeses - romano, reggiano, parmesan, edam and gouda. However President Donald Trump has used the reprieve in trade hostilities with China to recommence his dispute with the EU.
