Donald Trump slammed Democratic “persecutors” in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday, comparing the prosecutors to Massachusetts attorney Rachael Rollins, who resigned after allegedly leaking sensitive information earlier this month.
Rollins allegedly leaked sensitive information from the Justice Department to a reporter in an attempt to influence a local election for a friend, according to two federal reports released on May 17. Rollins also allegedly lied to investigators and attended a fundraiser with first lady Jill Biden.“Massachusetts’ top federal prosecutor leaked sensitive information from the Justice Department in an effort to help a friend win an election, and hurt the opponent. The prosecutor just resigned.
A report from the inspector general’s office said Rollins lied during an interview about the information she gave to the journalist. The other report, from the Office of Special Counsel, accused Rollins of violating the Hatch Act when she leaked the information during a political campaign and attended the fundraiser with Biden.
