said there were two separate incidents a few weeks apart where a vehicle with lights in the dashboard, possibly an older Ford Escape or pick-up truck with a cap, stopped drivers on Route 447 in Barrett Township. The vehicle has an out-of-state registration, police said.
In one incident, a car stopped for the vehicle and a man approached with a flashlight, but then left, Chief Christopher Wagner said. In a second incident, a car pulled over and the suspect’s vehicle went around and never actually stopped, police said. Anyone who may have seen this vehicle or has any information about the incidents should call Pocono Mountain police 570-895-2400.
The chief said on any traffic stop, a police officer will have no problem identifying themselves and their law enforcement agency. If there are any doubts, a driver can call 911 to verify the authenticity of the stop.
