But Texas State outscored the Trojans by ten in the first half to walk away from Trojan Arena with a 74-73 win.
“We self-destructed,” Troy head coach Scott Cross said. “They were tougher than us, they had more will and more grit to them and for one reason or another our guys just didn’t sit down and defend. And it looked like a very middle of the pack mediocre basketball team that last 30 minutes and it’s not good enough to win a championship.”
“We’re going to have to figure it out,” Cross said. “Guys are worried about things they can’t control and they just need to focus on things that they can control. When we do that, we’re really really good. When we don’t do that, like I said, we’re very, very average.”Troy men’s basketball will host Arkansas State at 3:33 p.m. This will follow the Troy women’s game versus Georgia State at noon.
