At about 7:30 a.m. troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Marine Patrol Division discovered a deceased body in the lower Delta near Spanish Fort, according to ALEA. The agency said its State Bureau of Investigation immediately launched a death investigation. Eastbound Interstate 10 lanes on the Bayway were shut down Wednesday morning while crews worked with a crane in a recovery operation.Since 9 a.m., both westbound lanes have been reopened to traffic, but in the 10 a.m. hour both eastbound lanes were stopped again. Crews are working there with a crane, as seen on ALDOT cameras.
There is a heavy law enforcement presence in the area. Also responding are troopers assigned to ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division, deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Spanish Fort Police Department. ALEA said the eastbound lanes of I-10 from the 27 mile marker to the 30 mile marker are closed. Traffic is being diverted onto Exit 27 and will have to remain on the Causeway until motorists reach Spanish Fort at exit 35.
