Jon Johnson On a steamy Sunday at the renovated Dothan Country Club golf course, a trio of golfers managed to shoot 2-under-par 68 to lead the 13-14 age division after the first round of the 75th Annual Press Thornton Future Masters.
“I kind of caught fire on 10,” Newsome said. “I just kept the train rolling since I shot 2-over on the front … kind of just stayed smooth and let the birdies come to me. “Really just tapping in for par all day,” Kinnare said. “I had a lot of chances on the front nine and missed a few makeable ones for birdie, but just kept plugging along and making those pars.”“I did chip in from about 25 yards on 12,” Kinnare said. “I put my drive in the right bunker and then got it to about 20 yards short and then holed that one for birdie.”“I think it’s just keep it in the fairway off the tee,” Kinnare said. “I was pretty much in the fairway all day long.
