We're getting our first look at a new documentary examining the kidnapping and murders of four employees at the Burger Chef restaurant in Speedway.
SPEEDWAY, Ind. — We're getting our first look at a new documentary examining the kidnapping and murders of four employees at the Burger Chef in Speedway."The Speedway Murders" offers a new look at the case from directors Luke Rynderman and Adam Kamien. It explores those theories formed after four workers – 20-year-old Jayne Friedt, 16-year-olds Daniel Davis and Mark Flemmonds, and 18-year-old Ruth Ellen Shelton – disappeared and were found two days later, dead in Johnson County.
The former Burger Chef in Speedway at 5725 Crawfordsville Road is being demolished on March 21, 2024.13News talked with family and friends of the victims when the building came down. They said they were ready for it to be replaced with something else. "I'm very thankful the building will be removed because I feel it has affected the entire community," said Theresa Jeffries, Shelton's sister.
"The Speedway Murders" will be available in select theaters and on Apple TV, Prime Video, and On Demand everywhere Friday, June 21.
