The latest episode of Screen Rant's own PitchMeeting series has taken to the skies and locked on to TopGunMaverick, poking fun at the film's multiple StarWars plot comparisons.
Though one of the biggest hits of the year, Top Gun: Maverick has just enough flaws to become the target of the latest episode of Screen Rant's Pitch Meeting series. The long-awaited Tom Cruise sequel saw his titular character brought back to the eponymous instructor program to train a fresh back of graduates, including Goose's son Rooster, for a specialized and dangerous mission.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Nearly half a year after the film broke multiple box office records, the latest episode of Screen Rant's Pitch Meeting series has set its sights on Top Gun: Maverick. The hilarious video pokes fun at the Tom Cruise sequel's various Star Wars story connections, namely its final act action sequence, as well as the film's various plot conveniences.
The other major Star Wars comparison, as noted in the episode, is the film's final act sequence the group had been training for, in which the pilots had to expertly fly through a narrow, low-altitude canyon before quickly climbing a mountain and dropping a missile in a small target.
While the Star Wars comparisons are sure to bring a chuckle to those who have seen the film, Top Gun: Maverick still remains one of the bigger films of the year.
