Restricted free agent Timo Meier signed a long-term extension with the Devils Wednesday, according to The Athletic’s Pierre Lebrun.
The 8-year extension has a $8.8 million average annual value, which comes to $70.4 million in total. The contract is front loaded with large signing bonuses. A league source told NJ Advance Media that Meier’s salary breakdown is as follows: $12 million in 2023-24; $11.1 million in 2024-25; 10.75 million in 2025-26; $7.75 million in 2026-27; and $7.2 million in 2027-28, 2028-29, 2029-30, and 2030-31.
