An explosion that killed one worker and injured two others in July may now lead to a $145,000 fine for Canton-based TimkenSteel.
CANTON, Ohio —
The incident happened on July 26 at TimkenSteel’s Faircrest plant in Perry Township, just outside Canton. According to OSHA, water got into an electric arc furnace and was surrounded by molten metal, causing a steam explosion. Three workers were hospitalized, one of whom died in the hospital on Aug. 19.
