The Great Alaska Sportsman Show is coming to Anchorage this weekend, and a variety of events are also on tap for fans of music, stage and film.
Crowds flock to the Great Alaska Sportsman Show on April 3, 2015, held that year at Sullivan Arena and Ben Boeke Ice Arena.
While spring is apparently taking its sweet time to arrive in Alaska, there are still plenty of opportunities for activities this weekend — and mostly indoors. The Great Alaska Sportsman Show is happening all weekend, and a variety of events are also on tap for fans of music, stage and film.: 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Dena’ina Center, 600 W. Seventh Ave.
The state’s largest trade show is back for a 38th year. It features free hourly seminars on topics like fly-fishing, Alaska firearms laws, halibut fishing as well as presentations from biologists with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Admission is $11 for adults and $3 for kids 11 and under. Special rates are available for seniors and military service members.: 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 6 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Mountain View Lions Club along with local providers are putting on this free medical, dental, vision and behavioral health clinic. Dozens of local health care professionals and more than 20 traveling professionals will be on hand at this free Remote Area Medical pop-up clinic.The season closer for the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra features pianist Yuliya Gorenman with the works of Anna Clyne and Ottorino Respighi being performed as well as Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
