Former model Nuria Val, the founder of Rowse Beauty, married in Cecilie Bahnsen’s Snow dress and commissioned a custom dress for her daughter, Olivia, to wear at her parents’ wedding in Barcelona.
“I first discovered Cecilie Bahnsen in 2018,” says Nuria Val. “I remember thinking then that if I ever got married I would do it in one of her dresses.” Sure enough, when the Rowse Beauty founder and her long-time partner, photographer Coke Bartrina, exchanged vows in their hometown of Barcelona in April, the bride wore one of the Danish designer’s signature cloud-like confections.
The bride, a former model, also turned to friends for her accessories, including a vibrant green bag by the Barcelona-based accessories brand Hereu, founded by José Luis Bartolomé and Albert Escribano. “They’ve been friends for a long time. I love their brand, and the bag was perfect to bring some colour to the look – I wanted something a little more shiny, a little bit of a risk.”
The final flourish? A pair of white patent leather Miu Miu Mary-Janes, which Nuria styled with ankle socks on the day. “It was kind of love at first sight when I saw those shoes,” she sighs. “They were elegant enough for the dress but it didn’t feel like too much, and the socks added something playful. They were super comfortable, too.
The couple immediately set about planning a small, informal wedding in Barcelona, with help from their sisters. “Everything was pretty organic: we decided to spend a beautiful day in our city surrounded by our family and friends.” Nuria and Coke got ready for the ceremony together, with Oli, who had recently learned to walk, toddling around and opening stray beauty products as her mother was doing her make-up. “Then I put on my dress, and she got super excited about wearing hers,” Nuria recalls.
