Like a lot of brides, as soon as she got engaged, Phoebe started following practically every single person who had anything to do with weddings on Instagram. “That’s actually where I found my dress!” she says. “It was just a picture of a beautiful bride, with a ponytail. It was so clean and simple—but still, there was a wow factor. Anyway, I managed to figure out that the designer was Viktor & Rolf, and got it shipped toThe gown had a simple, elegant bustier, but a more dramatic tulle skirt.
Because the ball skirt made for a dramatic statement, Phoebe opted for minimal jewelry. “I just wanted diamond studs, nothing else,” she says. “There is nothing more elegant to me.” She also typically wears her long blonde hair up in a ponytail with very little makeup and really wanted to stay true to this fresh-faced look on her wedding day. “I wanted people to recognize me,” she says. “I wanted to look super natural and let the dress speak for itself.
The ceremony took place at the St. George’s Church. Guests were welcomed by four violinists and an organist playing in the background. “It was all extremely warm and very beautiful,” Phoebe says. “I felt calmer than I anticipated—though I was sweating like a pig! Somehow I miraculously managed to say everything the priest told me to, which was great as that was the part I was most nervous about.”
Once they’d been pronounced husband and wife, the couple posed for photos on the steps outside of the well-known Catholic church, Santa Maria della Salute, located at Punta della Dogana in the Dorsoduroof Venice and then hopped in a water taxi for more post-ceremony pics, George and Amal Clooney–style, before joining their guests for cocktail hour at the Aman Venice. Once there, everyone mingled with Champagne, Bellinis, and Aperol Spritzes in hand before sitting down to a four-course dinner.
After the meal, guests made their way down to an urban-jungle-theme disco that had been set up in the lobby of the Aman Venice. “We had a live band and entertainment, dancers dancing with guests, and of course, mini burgers for the late-night cravings,” Phoebe says. “Being the dance lover that I am, I was thrilled to finally be able to relax and let loose!”
