A pair of Pa. doughnut shops were ranked among the top 100 in the country recently.
Fry up some dough, slap on a nice glaze or some sprinkles, maybe some chocolate or maybe you go for a filling such as lemon … there are endless combinations to choose from and almost all of them are winners.
There are at least two places like that in the Keystone State, according to Yelp’s rankings of the top doughnut shops in the United States. Yelp said it compiled the rankings from doughnut shops on its website “using a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews.”in the website’s “Top 100 US Donut Shops 2022” list.
The site also mentions the apple fritters and chocolate-dipped cake doughnuts at Beiler’s, and under “What they’re known for,” it lists “cream-filled powdered doughnuts.The site noted that while Beiler’s has long been a staple at Reading Terminal Market, it has expanded to include a “doughnut stand, doughnut trailer, and shops in nearby University City, Lancaster, and Germantown, Maryland.”
Food and Wine recommended the cinnamon roll doughnut, writing “which is exactly what it sounds like: two delicious things at once,” and Yelpers rave about them, too.
