The only other justification would be the recognition of Michel Barnier’s failure to ‘negotiate and conclude’ a Withdrawal Agreement, as required under Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty. Thus a short extension would be required to allow the EU and UK to prepare better for a WTO Brexit.Ok, that was to be expected. The picture might change dramatically next week in Parliament – or not.
