TSA officers found more guns last year at Newark airport checkpoints than in 2021.
TSA officers found and stopped 39 guns at New Jersey-New York metro area airports in 2022, with the most weapons detected at Newark airport, officials said.
Fewer guns were found at New Jersey’s two other airports, with two detected at Trenton Airport and one at Atlantic City airport, said Lisa Farbstein, a TSA spokeswoman.TSA officers found 44 guns at Philadelphia International Airport checkpoints, up from 39 in 2021. Lehigh Valley International Airport had no guns detected last year. Nationally, the TSA confiscated 6,542 guns in 2022, up from 5,972 in 2021.
