The Marvels trailer confirms that the MCU’s Nick Fury is still in outer space. Of course, this isn’t the first tease of the character’s off-world activities. Spider-Man: Far From Home previously revealed that Samuel L. Jackson’s character secretly left Earth and relocated to spaceship.
In addition to bringing Fury back for Disney+’s Secret Invasion show, Phase 5 will also feature the character in The Marvels. As revealed by the trailer for the Captain Marvel sequel, Fury will be making an alliance with Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan against an unknown villain. The exact nature of the threat remains unclear, but it would seem that the fight undertaken by the trio of superheroes in The Marvels will be tied to whatever operation Fury is a part of in Phase 5.

It was revealed in the movie’s post-credits scene that he was in space with Talos while his Skrull imposter was helping Peter Parker. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was directly stated that Fury has been off-world for one year in the MCU timeline.
What Is Nick Fury Doing Off-World? As for what that mission actually is, there’s been confirmation about Fury’s goals at the SABER station spotted in The Marvels trailer. Chances are, it has something to do with the Skrulls’ search for a new home, which began in Captain Marvel’s ending. That does make sense, especially since it’s no secret at this point that Fury has been working with the Skrulls.
