The Long Walk, a new movie based on a Stephen King novel that's being directed by Francis Lawrence, has added seven new cast members.
Set in a dystopian America, King’s The Long Walk is about an annual contest that forces contestants to walk for thousands of miles without rest. Should they stop or slow down, they then risk being killed.
Production for The Long Walk is now underway. It is expected to continue in Manitoba, Canada, throughout the summer. A release date for the movie has not yet been announced by Lionsgate. The script for the movie was written by JT Mollner. Lawrence also serves as a producer alongside Roy Lee, Cameron MacConomy, and Steven Schneider.
Lawrence previously made a number of movies in the Hunger Games franchise, including 2013’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 2014’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1, 2015’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2, and 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. He also made 2005’s Constantine, 2007’s I Am Legend, 2011’s Water for Elephants, 2018’s Red Sparrow, and 2022’s Slumberland.
