For those wondering what happened to Roderick and Madeline at the end of the new Netflix series, here’s everything you need to know.Towards the end, it was revealed that Roderick and Madeline Usher had made a deal with Verna in the early 80s, ultimately leading to the Usher children’s deaths.
Apparently, they had entrapped the previous CEO of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, Rufus Wilmot Griswold, in the company’s basement behind a brick wall. But looking for an alibi, they met the bartender, Verna, who offered them a deal. The Usher twins agreed to this deal with the “devil,” which played out exactly as Verna stated. Roderick became the CEO of Fortunato and he, along with his sister, basked in their riches. But their greed resulted in the deaths of Roderick’s children and granddaughter, Lenore, at the hands of Verna. Roderick confessed all this to his long-time investigator, Auguste Dupin, at his childhood home.
