In season 2, Carmy entered a romantic relationship with his childhood friend Claire, played by Molly Gordon. This romantic subplot was one of the show’s most controversial storylines, because Claire isn’t a three-dimensional character like the rest of The Bear’s cast; she exists to further Carmy’s character development. This relationship ended spectacularly in the season finale when Claire overheard Carmy, locked in a fridge, talking about his insecurities and reservations about dating her.
The Bear Could See Carmy & Sydney Getting Together Since the beginning of the series, fans of The Bear have been “shipping” Carmy and his sous chef Sydney Adamu, played by Ayo Edebiri.
