characterized the spy balloon — which an American fighter jet shot down off the coast of South Carolina this weekend — as a"brazen violation of United States sovereignty" and efforts to “deceive the international community through false claims about its intelligence collection campaigns.”
"They’re testing us right now," said the Texas Republican, whose district stretches from Austin east to Katy. A fleet of balloons operates under the direction of the People’s Liberation Army and is used specifically for spying, outfitted with high-tech equipment designed to gather sensitive information from targets across the globe, the U.S. said. Similar balloons have sailed over five continents, according to the administration.
Still, the resolution calls for the Biden administration to turn over information to Congress on past incidents, what intelligence the balloon might have gathered and what steps were taken to prevent it from entering the U.S.

Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, referring to the Chinese Communist Party.
