Five walks, a hit-by-pitch and a grand slam in the seventh inning lifted Texas A&M past Oregon and into the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M’s Kaeden Kent played Sunday night because Braden Montgomery did not. Kent swatted a grand slam in the seventh inning of the Aggies’ 15-9 comeback victory over Oregon in Game 2 of a super regional of the NCAA Tournament, as A&M propelled itself back into the College World Series for a second time in three years under third-year coach Jim Schlossnagle . “ just honored to get back to the Pearly Gates of college baseball: Omaha , Nebraska ,” Schlossnagle said.
“We wouldn’t be here without those guys,” Wasikowski said of why he allowed pitchers who got in trouble to try and work out of it over a deflating weekend. “Those were our go-to guys and we stuck with our go-to guys. … Sometimes it doesn’t work out, and was one of those cases.” The Aggies improved to 37-3 at Blue Bell in their final home game of the season, this time in front of an overflow crowd of 7,934 appreciative of A&M’s 12th comeback win from at least a three-run deficit.
