In the wake of Joker: Folie a Deux's box office failure, Terrifier star David Howard Thornton opened up about his thoughts on joining the DC Universe. Despite already playing a Clown-themed antagonist, the actor revealed that he is absolutely game to play Batman's greatest foe.
Thornton has now played a psychopathic clown for 3 films within the Terrifier franchise. The series is known for its excessive gore. In fact, the first test screenings of Terrifier 3 were so gruesome, audience members were seen vomiting and walking out of the theater. Interestingly, the first Terrifier film only received a 58% score on Rotten Tomatoes, while Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 were scored 86% and 87%, respectively.
What David Howard Thornton’s Joker Casting Would Mean For DC Close Regardless, Thornton's casting could be interesting, and it would have huge ramifications on the DC Universe. James Gunn and Peter Safran have yet to announce any projects featuring the Joker within their continuity, but even with Joker: Folie a Deux's disappointing reception, they're likely to bring the character back at some point. After all, he is often considered Batman's archenemy.
