Police said the teen was swimming with a group of friends in the lake behind the Twin Lakes Family YMCA when he began experiencing distress. They also said they don't think lifeguards were on duty at the time of the incident. "I want to take this opportunity to express our deepest sympathies to the family," Lt. Justin Miller with the Cedar Park Police Department said."This is a horribly tragic incident and we are doing everything we can with the family to provide support in this horrible incident."
Laura Arredondo, chief marketing officer for the YMCA of Central Texas, said,"We want to express our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the young man. We are thankful for the quick response by the first responders. We will continue to work with the Cedar Park Police Department in their ongoing investigation as the area where the incident occurred is not part of where YMCA programs take place, nor were any programs taking place at that time.
