State police announced charges against the ex-employee.
The suspect, whom police did not identify, faces three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment and one summary charge of criminal mischief, police said. The charges were sent to Lehigh County Juvenile Court.at the 7150 Hamilton Blvd. supermarket in Lower Macungie Township, according to police. A news release last week on the investigation described them as sewing needles.
There were no injuries to customers as a result, according to police. Investigators had said they believed just one juvenile was responsible. State police on Thursday said troopers had been called to the store for reported food tampering and determined an employee had put the needles into grocery items that were then returned by customers. Troopers recommended customers check any items for tampering that may have been purchased between April 13 and April 19.A Giant spokeswoman declined to comment further Tuesday.
