The first of the two sessions will be this Thursday, April 18, from 5-7 p.m. at the Central Station Hotel’s Amtrak Station in Memphis, Tenn. April 25 5-7 p.m. at the Eugene Woods Civic Center on West Polk Avenue in West Memphis, Ark.
Discussions about the I-55 Bridge are on the table, as the public is invited to several meetings to discuss the future of the bridge connecting the Natural State to the Volunteer State.
“I feel like everybody either coming in from Arkansas or coming from Tennessee, they just try to avoid the bridge…I don’t prefer it because it just doesn’t look very safe,” said Jones. TDOT says the project team and experts will have information on hand to answer any questions the public may have. There won’t be a presentation, but “conceptual layouts for the new America’s River Crossing” will be showcased.
“You have to leave at a certain time, or you will be stuck in non-moving traffic for a while because everybody's getting off work, everybody's leaving work. It’s just rough. If anything, a third bridge would be more beneficial,” she adds.
