The Canterbury Cathedral in England is receiving backlash from the religious community and others after it announced its newest precentor and head of worship: a woman with multiple tattoos.

A spokesperson for Canterbury Cathedral told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that the negative reaction is"unacceptable."

The priest said she is saddened by the backlash she's received online but grateful for the support from the cathedral. In Dalrymple’s role, she helped turn the church into an intercultural worshiping community, which made the church inclusive for people from different backgrounds, SWNS reported.
