The Aggies interim Head Coach, Nate Dreiling joined David James for a two-part interview on Talkin' Sports. In part one Dreiling talked about some of the people and games that are shaping his coaching career . He would neither confirm nor deny a story that he was changing blocking schemes in the huddle when he was playing football in middle school, but he did acknowledge his dad has had a major impact on his career.
Dreiling reflected on the challenges he has faced since Head Coach Blake Anderson was forced out and he received the interim tag. Nate and his wife were on a European vacation when he received a call from Logan informing him of the change and his new responsibilities. In one more example of how supportive coaches' wives need to be, the vacation was cut short. It was supposed to be a celebration after his wife had battled through breast cancer.
Upon his return Dreiling, who had just moved from Las Cruces where he was the defensive coordinator at New Mexico State, had to immediately start building relationships with the offensive players because the transfer portal was opening and there was a chance key players would be leaving when it was too late to replace them.
