A woman has filed a class action lawsuit, stating the hospital compromised her information.

the technology used for electronic patient documentation in care settings has been restored following a ransomware attack nearly a month ago.

Due to the incident, the hospital was forced to switch to using manual and paper-based systems. Now, Ascension says most hospital departments, physician offices and clinics are back to using electronic documentation, charting and ordering systems.All Ascension Seton hospitals, physician offices and care sites remain open and operational. Patients have been told to expect improved wait times and efficiencies.

The ransomware attack was first reported on May 8. The hospital said it was working with a third-party expert to investigate the security issue and authorities were notified.Ascension said it responded immediately, initiated an investigation and activated remediation efforts. Business partners were asked to temporarily suspend connection to the Ascension environment.

Some systems that were affected included Ascension's electronic health records system, MyChart, which helps patients look at their medical records; some phone systems; and other systems that help with certain tests, procedures and medications.
