By learning through his best tool, his tastebuds, Brooks decided to make his new restaurant on the corner of W 117th St. and Madison Ave.
“There’s no need to wait until we retire to start your dream,” she told him at the time. “It’s something that he has passion about, so I just pushed him.” “We beat COVID. We beat materials. We beat supply chain issues, and we beat cancer,” Brooks said. “We’re not losing.”Sweet Pork Wilson’s isn’t the brainchild of a massive restaurant corporation or a group of well-stocked investors. It’s Brooks, a few close friends in his life, and a home equity line of credit. In that sense, Brooks approaches the restaurant like he did when he played offensive lineman at St. Ignatius High School — stay focused, optimistic, and don’t accept failure.
